Meta and Naver will bring voice-guided walking directions to Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta AI glasses by year-end, allowing users to navigate via Naver Map without glancing down at their phones.
Naver said it is the first Korean internet company to partner with Meta on artificial intelligence glasses. The collaboration connects the devices to Naver Map’s real-time walking navigation service, launched in June.
Users will pair the glasses with the Naver Map app to hear directions through built-in open-ear speakers. Guidance will include details on entrances and facilities, as well as stairs or escalators along the route. Users can also ask the voice assistant about nearby places, including cafes and hospitals.
Naver Map’s walking navigation service is currently available on Android, with an iOS rollout to follow. Naver plans to refine navigation accuracy ahead of the feature’s launch.
The partnership extends the companies’ cooperation from advertising into everyday services. They already work together through ADVoost, Naver’s AI-powered advertising solution, combining Naver’s commerce and shopping data with Meta’s AI targeting technology.
“Users will be able to reach their destinations safely and conveniently without repeatedly checking their phones,” a Meta official said. “By combining our AI glasses with Naver Map, we expect users to experience greater convenience from AI wearables in their daily lives.”
Developed by Meta and eyewear group EssilorLuxottica, Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta glasses let users interact with Meta AI through voice commands.
